Brief
Two months after the earthquakes, La Guaira is returning to work, but commercial activity remains severely impaired. Tourism has yet to return, and businesses are operating amid rubble left by the disaster. Of the 7,000 establishments that existed beforehand, only a little more than 1,700 remain. The figures show that the restart is partial, with most of the pre-disaster commercial base no longer operating.
With only a little over 1,700 of 7,000 establishments surviving, La Guaira faces a much smaller commercial base for recovery. The continued absence of tourism and remaining rubble indicate that business normalization is still distant, increasing reconstruction and operating risks in the state.
